It’s Time To Celebrate
Local chamber leaders, mark your calendars!
Christmas came early for folks at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC). Today, the International Chamber of Commerce made its announcement that OCC will be its co-host for the 15th World Chambers Congress, September 8-10, 2027, in Toronto.
“It is an immense honour for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce to be chosen as the host of the 2027 World Chambers Congress in Toronto,” said OCC CEO Daniel Tisch Echevarria, “ With a theme of ‘Prosperity with Purpose: Building Inclusive, Sustainable Economies,’ the Congress is an opportunity to tackle big global challenges, connect chambers from every continent, and bring together diverse voices in the most diverse city in the world. We are excited to welcome the world to Toronto in 2027.”
More than 1000 delegates representing chambers of commerce world-wide will participate in the Congress. Drawing on the expertise of OCC’s Ontario Economic Summit team and chamber partners from across Canada, four streams are envisioned for the Congress:
Re-liberalizing Global Trade: The path to shared prosperity
Next step, Net Zero: Mobilizing business for climate action
Artificial Intelligence, human values: Productivity through trust
The Chamber Movement: Driving Change and Pivoting Towards a More Inclusive Future
In an email to partners across the country, Tisch Echevarria said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for the Canadian chamber movement. Entering the competition took time and attention during an intense year, with a field of six bidders that ultimately came down to a final two.”
“I am particularly grateful to Louie Di Palma, our VP, Programs, who managed the process alongside me, and the many others who contributed to a formidable bid. We are thankful for the support of the Canadian Chamber, Todd Letts (Canada’s rep on the WCF Council), Destination Toronto, and our supporting chambers and boards of trade across Ontario and Canada.”
